Silver is a natural anti-biotic and works well for taking the itch out of insect bites.

I will tape a silver coin on chigger and tick bites to stop the itch, immediately, and speeds up healing.
Any time healing takes longer then expected there are other issues to consider. Your immune system is being compromised. I had an infected tooth which lead to small cut and burns not to heal in a reasonable time.
